“Discere Docendo” in Latin means “to learn through teaching.” This is the motto of my personal teaching philosophy. As an educator, I believe that it is necessary to differentiate instruction and school assignments to create in students the passion for lifelong learning, and to help them evolve into productive members of society. I consider learning a cumulative process where the instructor must discover the individual needs of the students and adapt lesson plans to specifically help each classroom that they teach.

 

I have had practice teaching in a rural setting (Portland Public Schools),in an urban setting (Waverly High School in Lansing), in Dearborn Heights in an IB and MYP endorsed school, and in the suburban setting of Zeeland, so I have experience with many different styles and levels of learners in the English classroom. I have taught everything from basic literacy to the creative development of professional papers, and I feel confident that your district could utilize my skills in the best possible way.
